Davdison taken to medical centre following huge accident in traffic at Le Mans

Anthony Davidson has been taken to the medical centre following a huge accident in traffic at the five-hour mark of the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Briton's #8 Toyota, which was running third, was passing the #81 AF Corse Ferrari of Piergiuseppe Perazzini into Mulsanne corner when the GT car made contact with Davidson's TS030.

Both cars spun at high speed, with the Toyota becoming airborne as it did so, flipping through the air before landing on its wheels and sliding into the barriers. The Ferrari hit the tyres side-on, pushing the barrier backwards before tipping on its side, but Perazzini was able to get out unaided.

Davidson was attended to by medical crews at the scene, before being taken to the medical centre.

The race is continuing behind the safety car, while the barrier into which Davidson and Perazzini crashed is being completely rebuilt.
