Henzler doubts Porsche chances in the Le Mans 24 Hours

Henzler doubts Porsche chancesWolf Henzler has played down the chances of winning the GTE Pro class after labelling his Felbermayr-Proton Porsche's qualifying deficit as 'too much'.

The #77 911 Henzler shares with Marc Lieb and Richard Lietz was the fastest Porsche in the GTE Pro class, but ended qualifying in sixth, more than 2.2s down on the pacesetting #59 Luxury Racing Ferrari.

Henzler believes that gap leaves Porsche incredibly vulnerable to any misfortune during the 24 Hours, and insists that his team therefore needs a perfect race to stand any chance of victory.

"We already knew we are not at the same speed as the others, but two seconds is more than expected," Henzler told AUTOSPORT.

"Are we too far off? We will see, but if you are already so far behind in lap time it means you have no room for error. If something goes wrong you are done.

"If you are the same speed maybe you can gain in the pit stop or whatever. For us, we need the perfect race, we need everything to go for us, in order to stand a chance.

"If everything is fine and perfect maybe we can get the podium, but honestly I think we are too slow to win."
