McNish: Brabham is main rival

Audi driver Allan McNish has identified Panoz's David Brabham as his team's main threat in qualifying at this year's Le Mans 24 Hours

"I think David and Mimmo Schiattarella in the Rafanelli Lola are our major rivals for pole, but particularly David," he said. "He leads the Panoz team well and he has a good team-mate in Jan Magnussen."

Despite the Audi squad's dominance of the timesheets on Wednesday evening, McNish says he thinks the track will be quicker during Thursday's night qualifying sessions.

"There's a lot less grip here than last year," he said. "But I reckon the track will be better scrubbed-in tomorrow (Thursday). You can usually set the your fastest time between 2030 and 2100 - when there's plenty of rubber down. The next quick period is between 2200 and 2015, when the track is cooler and there's a little light left.

"But it's ultimately more important to get a clear lap - and that doesn't happen very often on this track."

Thursday night qualifying is from 1900-0000 CET. Tune in to Radio Le Mans via our homepage for live coverage.
