Triple 8 Australia insists that it will continue in V8 Supercars next year, despite losing its title sponsorship deal with Vodafone.
Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes have competed under the Team Vodafone banner since 2007, taking 68 race wins and three drivers' titles in that time.
However, Vodafone Hutchison Australia announced on Thursday morning that despite this, it would not be continuing its association with the outfit beyond the end of this year.
A statement released by the team said: "Whilst we are looking forward to continuing to work with Vodafone in the future, this chapter of Triple 8's history is one that we can all be very proud of as it draws to a close and from Craig, Jamie, [team owner] Roland [Dane], [team principal] Adrian [Burgess] and everyone else in the team we again extent our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Vodafone including, most especially, [head of sponsorship and events] Stephen Saunders."
"Meanwhile we will be on track in 2013 with new title sponsorship and we'll be bigger, better and faster as we roll out our Car of the Future Holden Commodores."
