Mercedes to launch SLR Stirling Moss

Mercedes-Benz 650bhp SLR Stirling Moss Racing legend Stirling Moss has put his name to a new flagship McLaren Mercedes SLR super sports car, which is due to be launched in the middle of next year.

The 650bhp SLR Stirling Moss will have a top speed of 217mph and will be limited to a production run of just 75 cars.

It will cost 750,000 Euros, and the cars will be made when manufacture of the SLR Roadster ceases at the end of May 2009.

The car's design has been based on the 300 SLR that Moss raced so successfully in the 1950's - and features neither roof nor windows to deliver a true open-top driving experience.

The limited edition car will not be made available to the general public and instead will be offered exclusively to loyal SLR customers.
