F3 Euro Series championship leader Romain Grosjean could land the role of test driver for the Renault F1 team next season, Flavio Briatore has hinted.
The Renault F1 team boss told French weekly magazine AutoPlus that Frenchman Grosjean, who is part of the Renault Drivers Development programme, is also set to drive in the GP2 Series next year.
And he was quoted as saying Grosjean will be Renault's Formula One test driver in 2008. However, a Renault spokesman told autosport.com that this is only a possibility.
"Nothing has been decided yet," the spokesman said. "This is one of the possibilities we are currently evaluating."
Grosjean, who is currently leading the F3 Euro Series with 70 points - nine more than rival Sebastien Buemi, could potentially be slotted with the ART Grand Prix outfit in GP2.
He has not driven a Formula One car before and would likely be evaluated by Renault in testing this fall.
