Keselowski can be one of NASCAR Cup's 'greats' with road course win

Penske's Brad Keselowski says he must add a road course victory to be considered a NASCAR Cup Series' "great", having won at all other types of track on the calendar

Keselowski has 29 Cup victories and has won two of the seven races so far this season, mostly recently at Martinsville.

NASCAR currently has Sonoma and Watkins Glen as road course staples, having also added Charlotte's Roval layout for 2018 onwards.

Keselowski has won on a road course in the Xfinity Series, having done so at Watkins Glen in 2013, but has yet to do so in the Cup Series.

"I want to be at able to win at every race track because I think if you're going to define a great driver, great drivers in this sport win at all the different genres of tracks," said Keselowski.

"I don't really get caught up in such-and-such is a driver's track as much as I would say that I get caught up in can you win at every type of race track.

"That, to me, defines a great driver in this sport.

"To be able to win at all the different genres of race tracks, to me, requires some unique disciplines, so it's something I take a lot of pride in.

"It's part of what irks me that I haven't won on a road course and I think I've finished second or third like five or six times at least."

Keselowski has five podium finishes in 18 Cup starts on road courses and took three second places in a row at Watkins Glen from 2011-13, pictured below.

His last podium was a third at Sonoma, his best finish at the track, in 2017.
